Who's Who at Evan
| Assistant Minister: |
Email: david.thomas@romford-evan.co.uk David joined the ministry team here at Evan in 2006 and has since completed his Master's studies in Theological and Pastoral Studies at Oakhill College, Southgate, North London. Married to Jenny with 2 young children, Naomi and Joel, David previously worked for over 12 years as an IT consultant. Any relaxation time is spent on sport, with squash, golf and cycling amongst those activities he claims to enjoy, if not be completely competent at. Believing that God has provided all things needful to equip his people for the daily service to which he calls them, David's desire is to faithfully communicate God's word to achieve this end. |

| Treasurer: |
Ally Peace Email: treasurer@romford-evan.co.uk Ally is originally from Kingston in Surrey and is married to Phil. After working in the world of Investment Banking & IT for around 11 years, she now dedicates her time to the church finances and running around after their 2 young children (Rachael & Alexander). Ally wholeheartedly agrees with Laurie's comment "..the more we hand our lives over to God, the more we will kick ourselves for not doing it sooner...." - something that the whole experience of having children has really taught her! When lucky enough to find some free time Ally enjoys running (without the kids!). |

Laurie, son of a local bookie, started going to church at age 19 and soon realized he wasn't a Christian after all; so asked Jesus to be his saviour and has never regretted it. Has been attending Evan for about quarter of a century and is slowly getting used to it. Married to Mei Lin, they have 2 sons, Adrian and James. They also have many close relatives (but not too close e.g. in Australia, France, Germany, Malaysia, Spain, USA). Laurie trained as a psychiatric nurse and as a general nurse, then became a nurse teacher in one of the Romford hospitals. At church, he is part of the missionary committee and assists the treasurer with the finances. He enjoys work (watching it), cooking (tasting it) and writing the odd poem (some are very odd). Firmly believes that the more we hand our lives over to God, the more we will kick ourselves for not doing it sooner. |

Rob grew up in Gidea Park, and became a Christian in the middle of a field of sheep in Wales at the age of 16. He has been attending Romford Evan since 1989, and on Sundays is often found behind a piano keyboard and at most other times behind a computer keyboard - after many years in banking Rob now works in the IT team for a local building firm. He is married to Pauline and since 2006 they have been involved in the Young People’s Fellowship (YPF) as it is more fun than his previous task of looking after the church buildings - and a lot more challenging too!. They have two sons, Stephen and Matthew. |

Martin originates from Edmonton, North London and only moved to Hornchurch when he married an 'Ilford girl' - Ann- back in 1985. He became a Christian in response to hearing a live transmission of Billy Graham at Earls Court in 1989 at the age of 26. Martin and Ann have 2 adult daughters, Nicola and Sarah. He is a bit of a jack of all trades and has been involved with children's ministries at the church as well as finance and missions. Music has always been an important part of his life. In his late 30's he taught himself to play the guitar and then the bass as well. He now plays in the music group whenever he can. Martin is also a bit of a joker playing tricks on a variety of victims whenever he can get away with it. |

Paul insists his roots are in West London however he has been attending Romford Evan since the age of 3. The only other 3 years that he has spent away from Evan were his college years in South Wales. This time away from his close Christian family was pivotal in his Christian life. For the first time he had choices to make concerning his beliefs. With the help of prayers from home and a close relationship with other Christians in Wales, Paul continued following the Christian path. Becoming a Christian at a young age, Paul has had opportunities to serve as a Youth Leader, Home Group Leader and now, along with his wife Tracy, helps Ally with Evan’s financial records. Paul enjoys watching most sports but has recently got off his sofa to walk the North Downs Way, and administer thrashings at Subbuteo table football to his long-suffering son, Kyran. |

Dan Smith
As the son of a London City Missionary, Dan spent his early years in moving around London from Tottenham to Chadwell Heath and Dagenham, eventually settling in Romford. He began attending Evan with his family at the age of 12 in 1992. Having spent his teenage years with us at Evan, Dan left for university at Bucks College in High Wycombe where he studied Graphic Design & Advertising. After gaining his degree and following a year of voluntary youth work in a church in High Wycombe, Dan returned to Romford and began his career as a graphic designer in a small award-winning design studio in London. Dan became a deacon at the end of 2009 and plays a key role in the church's work with the youth and 18-30s groups. Keen to use his gifts within the church, Dan regularly plays guitar in the music group and as a member of the evangelism team where his design skills are often put to good use. Eager to see God glorified in all aspects of life at Evan and making Christ known in the local community, Dan has a passion, not just for people to become Christians, but rather disciples. |
