Who's Who at Evan
| Minister: |
Email: andrew@romford-evan.co.uk Andrew has been Minister at Evan since 1996. Married to Helen and with four children, his priority in ministry is to teach the Word of God with clarity and conviction. He holds degrees in theology from the Unversity of Wales (BA Hons) and Oak Hill College (MA in Theological and Pastoral Studies) but reckons these are nothing like as challenging as sitting alongside a grieving family or maintaining personal integrity in the face of many temptations to compromise the truth. To relax he confesses to an enjoyment of old TV sitcoms and Ealing comedies (apply in person for a confidential list!), which can mean banishment to a different room in the house from the rest of the family. |

| Assistant Minister: |
Email: david.thomas@romford-evan.co.uk David recently joined the ministry team at Evan and has just completed his final year of Master's studies at Oakhill. Married to Jenny, David has previously worked for over 12 years as an IT consultant. Any relaxation time is spent on sport, with squash, golf and cycling amongst those activities he claims to enjoy, if not be completely competent at. Believing that God has provided all things needful to equip his people for the daily service to which he calls them, David's desire is to faithfully communicate God's word to achieve this end. |

Laurie, son of a local bookie, started going to church at age 19 and soon realized he wasn't a Christian after all; so asked Jesus to be his saviour and has never regretted it. Has been attending Evan for about quarter of a century and is slowly getting used to it. Married to Mei Lin, they have 2 sons, Adrian and James. They also have many close relatives (but not too close e.g. in Australia, France, Germany, Malaysia, Spain, USA). Laurie trained as a psychiatric nurse and as a general nurse, then became a nurse teacher in one of the Romford hospitals. At church, he is part of the missionary committee and assists the treasurer with the finances. He enjoys work (watching it), cooking (tasting it) and writing the odd poem (some are very odd). Firmly believes that the more we hand our lives over to God, the more we will kick ourselves for not doing it sooner. |

Rob grew up in Gidea Park, and became a Christian in the middle of a field of sheep in Wales at the age of 16. He has been attending Romford Evan since 1989, and on Sundays is often found behind a piano keyboard and at most other times behind a computer keyboard - after many years in banking Rob is now an IT Trainer. He is married to Pauline and since 2006 they have been involved in the Young People’s Fellowship (YPF) as it is more fun than looking after the church buildings (and a lot more challenging too!). They have two sons, Stephen and Matthew. |

Anne was born and brought up in Romford and has attended Evan for most of her life! She is married to Ken and they have 4 adult children. Anne has been a Primary School teacher for the past 26 years and currently works in Dagenham. She enjoys travelling, cooking and gardening. Anne is also a member of the All Saint's Players an am-dram group in the locality. |

Doug has been a member at Evan since 1991 and this is his second term as a deacon. Having worked for 28 years in the retail jewellery trade he now produces window dressing displays for shops. Doug has green fingers and loves growing unusual plants from seed and if you saw his living room you'd think it was Kew Gardens. His favourite place to be is the Lake District where, when the weather is good, he likes to go camping. Doug plays guitar and tambourine and his responsibilities at Evan are centred on the music. |
